I do think there is something special about this portrait and i would summarize this with the word dignity. I feel that often images of homeless or destitute people have an exploitative element to them while this man exudes serenity and pride.
I have taken many portraits , rarely i have encountered such a natural expression , he is looking at the camera but he is not posing.He is beautifully human.
